Pitch >>

  • The piece starts with a very good bass guitar
  • The melody is improvised
  • The guitar uses scales in the melody and no leaps in the scales
  •  major key 

 

Duration >>

  • the guitar solos has many bends which has a long duration
  • the time signature is 4/4
  • the rhythm development is awkward with many ups and down 

 

Tone colour >>

  • the performing media is a guitar solo with bass and a keyboard and drums in accompany
  • the guitar has a snappy sound to it
  • the background instruments give the piece life  

 

Dynamics/expressive technique >>

  • the dynamics are loud and soft in some parts
  • the expressive techniques are the bending of the strings and the keyboard playing
  • The dynamics and expressive techniques of the main melody (trumpet) vary throughout.

 

 

Textures >>

  • the texture goes up and down many times
  • there are no layers
  • the texture of the guitar vary because it disappears and reappear
  • the texture is homophonic

 

Structure >>

  • The form includes the main theme, then is repeated, but with improvisations. Also known as a ‘Theme and Variations’ form.
